Software Engineer

EXPERIENCE
August 2020 - August 2021
SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Microsoft Corporation - Bellevue, Washington, United States
I worked on PowerBI Dataflows and added new features to the PowerBI service. My work involved full stack development including backend (C#), frontend (Angular.js, Typescript, HTML) and databases (Microsoft SQL Server, stored procedures). I also experienced working as an on-call engineer for the first time where I helped resolve app-related incidents and bugs.
Sep 2019 - July 2020
Nov 2020 - Jan 2021
OPTICAL NAVIGATION ENGINEER
Space Systems Design Studio - Ithaca, New York, United States
I lead the optical navigation development for our Lunar cubesat. As a research engineer on a multi-disciplinary engineering team, I wrote mission critical code. My work is outlined in the "Optical Navigation System" section which I co-wrote with Prof. Curran D. Muhlberger (PhD) and student researchers: https://digitalcommons.usu.edu/smallsat/2020/all2020/92/. I designed the optical navigation API for autonomous position/attitude recovery of spacecraft and worked alongside software, mechanical and electrical engineering students to make decisions about OpNav API design. I utilized computer vision to extract relative distances of the Earth, Moon and Sun from onboard cameras such as the Hough Circle Transform. Next, I optimized unscented kalman filtering R&D code. Finally, I wrote a UNIT testing framework for evaluating the OpNav system on synthetic trajectory datasets. This work was done in Python.
May 2019 - August 2019
SOFTWARE ENGINEERING INTERNSHIP
Microsoft - Bellevue, Washington, United States
I worked on the PowerBI Dataflows product. I implemented and shipped the “Import” feature for importing Dataflow models into Workspaces and collaborated with the UX Research team to design more intuitive UI for the Import API frontend. For more information, see this article: https://ssbipolar.com/2019/10/03/importing-model-json-to-create-a-new-dataflow/.
August 2018 - September 2019
COMPUTER VISION RESEARCH PROJECT
Cornell Graphics & Vision Group - Ithaca, New York, United States
I researched end-to-end view synthesis autoencoders for disentangling identity and pose descriptors for 3D objects via curriculum learning. Neural Network code was written in PyTorch. (This turned out to be a valuable educational experience but did not lead to a publication.)
December 2016 - January 2017
SOFTWARE ENGINEERING INTERNSHIP
Appliqant - New York, New York, United States
During this short winter internship, I worked on “Appliqant” which is an automation tool for online interviews. I developed automated backup system for their SQL user database to MongoDB. Towards the end of that winter, I began work on the first version of the Android app.
Sometime late into my high school years (2012 - 2016)
GAME DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE
Self Employed
The first two games I created and published are called ‘Crazy Towers’ and ‘Swervy Cubes’. I built them in Unity3D and published them to the AppStore
